The Pharmacist as a Member of the COVID-19 Public Health Team
Abstract
Since the start of the new Coronavirus outbreak in December 2019, pharmacists worldwide are working on the frontlines of health
care every day, providing essential health care services during the pandemic, and adopting innovative strategies to minimize the
adverse impact of the pandemic. Pharmacists are medication experts, providing patient care in a variety of settings including
hospitals, clinics, community pharmacies, long-term care and physician offices, among others. At some point in time during the
pandemic, other professionals closed their doors to patients, but the community pharmacies remained open to the general public, no
matter the extent of restrictions during lockdowns.
